Teradata Chooses Abacast

Abacast, the industry leader in Hybrid CDN Services, announced that Teradata has licensed Abacast’s Live Peer-Assisted Delivery Service and ImageSync presentation software. The licensed Abacast servers are used for distributing live Windows Media video internally to over 5,000 Teradata employees.

Abacast’s enterprise-ready Live Peer-Assisted Delivery Service enables Teradata to broadcast live events including leadership communications, earnings announcements, and other strategic updates from members of the senior management team to its employees throughout the world.

“Abacast’s enterprise-targeted, peer-assisted video solutions have enabled us to incorporate important and informative live and on-demand presentations into our employee communications practice,” said Diana Bolden, Vice President of information technology (IT) at Teradata. “We are now serving high-quality and cost effective live video to our employees.”

Abacast’s Live Peer-Assisted Delivery Service is an enterprise-ready, licensed version of the software that powers Abacast’s industry-leading hosted live distribution service. As a licensed server running in an enterprise, Abacast Live effectively provides a software multicast solution by combining the security and control of unicast technology with the efficiency of peer-assisted delivery. The result is a secure, resilient, and stable network that delivers high quality video to thousands of simultaneous users while using significantly less network bandwidth and server capacity.

Abacast’s ImageSync software enables the streaming of live video synchronized with Microsoft PowerPoint slides. The synchronized video and slides are presented live to the end user in a unified player and also simultaneously archived for later, on-demand playback.

“Abacast’s Live Peer-Assisted Delivery provides enterprises with a tangible and significant ROI over multicast solutions and IT infrastructure upgrades,” said Jim Kott, Abacast Co-President. “It’s rewarding in these times to provide an enterprise video delivery solution with such a high ROI without sacrificing one bit on video quality.”
